Notes
a. Note:   Found Albert in the Castle Garden passenger arrival listings arriving NY on 12 Oct 1866 on the Ship Cella having departed from the port of London, age 21, from Germany, ticket paid for by self, destination United States, all other fields blank or filled in as unknown.
There were two other Ummenhofers that came to America in 1866: C. Ummenhofer, arrived in NY on 06 Aug 1866, age 18, from Germany, also on the ship Cella from London; C. Umenhofer, arrived NY on 26 Nov 1866, age 27, from Germany, on the ship Germanic, which departed from Hamburg.
Albert's naturalization occurred on 25 Oct 1876 in the court of Cook County, IL; Other facts of record on this document: D.I. Aug. 15, 1871-Probate Court, Hamilton Cunty, Ohio.
These are the only records for Ummenhofer I have been able to find pre-1900. Not sure why they aren't showing up on any Census reports.
In 1900 Albert, Wilhelmina and children were living at 329 Hudson Avenue in Chicago's North Town division where Albert was working as a wood carver. He emigrated in 1866 and was naturalized, both his parents were born in Germany. Wilhelmina had emigrated in 1867, she & Albert had been married for thirty-three years. Their children Adolf, Oscar & Dora were among the household. Living at the same street address was their son Fred & his wife Clara.
In 1910 Albert & Wilhelmina's address was 1911 Hudson Avenue, Albert's occupation was wood carver in a piano factory. Living at the same street address was her daughter Selma Bleidt & family.
In 1920 they were living at the same address that Albert owned, free of mortgage, a retired wood carver. Wilhelmina passed away four years later & Albert died in May of 1930.
