Note: Annie was from Keyport, Monmouth Co. NJ. Annie and Baltes lived in Metuchen, in Middlesex Co. NJ for one year. In the spring of 1885 they moved to Flemington. Annie had a daughter before she married Baltis. From The Democrat Advitiser - May 25, 1905: Mrs. Anna Meeker Pickel. The many friends of Mrs. Anna Meeker Pickel, of this place, were shocked to learn of her death wich said event took place last Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Mary E. June, her cousin, in Keyport, N.J., where she had been staying since October last. The cause of her death was a compliated trouble of her heart and stomach, from which she had suffered for several years. Her age was 68 years and 9 months. Deceased was born in New York and was the daughter of William Meeker, an importer of merchandise. when very young she married Henry Holcombe, of this place, who died after a few years of consumption. From this uion one dughter - the only child- Mrs. Maude H. Holcombe Palmer of boston, survives her. Twently tow years ago deceased was married to Mr. Baltis Pickel, then of Metuchen, and twenty years ago moved to Flemington where she had since resided. Mr. Pickel eparted this life about fifteen years ago. Mr.s Pickel possessed very many excellent qualities, was a wide and intelligent reader, and a royal hostess. She had that rare faculity of spontaneous merriment and jollity which made her one to be sought after by a large circle of friends. These will miss her much in the social events of the town. The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. June, Sunday afternoon. The internment took place in Morristown, where whe was laid to rest by the side of her late father for whom she had a profound love - a love wich abided with her through her nearly three score years and then, and which was kiindled in her warm heart from the time her expanding mind knew what it was to be fondled upon that father's knee and to receive affection's kiss. The house was willed to Mrs. Pickel's daughter, Maude H. Palmer.
