a. Note:   . At enlistment (8/15/1812) Henry gave his place of residence as Trumansburgh, signing up at Lewiston, Niagara Co., He was honorably discharged from service on Dec. 1, 1858. On April 13, 1808, in Ulysses, Seneca Co., NY (now Enfield in Thompkins Co.) Henry Pickel, age 18, married Mary Ann Updike.
Note:   Less than 2 mo. after the start of the War of 1812, Henry Pickel signed up for 3 mo. service with the light horse unit in Capt. Harmon Camp's company in an undesignated regiment of the Buffalo Militia , commanded by Gen. Stephen Van Rensselaer
