Note: Peter shows up on the 1870 Fed. census, in Tewksbury Township at the age of 10 years old. It is possible that this Peter Pickell is the same one who married Rettie Anderson Nov. 30, 1887. From the Hunterdon Co. Democrat, April 16, 1919 page. 6: Peter C. Pickell, 59 years old, died on Friday morning at his residence near Oldwick, after an illness of almost 10 days from neuro-pneumonia. He was a prosperous farmer and had resided there nearly all his life. He was a meber of the Methodist Church at Oldwick. Besides his widow, he leaves a daughter Mrs. Charles W. Craig of Somerville. Another daughter, Mrs. Russell Conover of Bissell died there of the same disease several months ago. He also leaves a sister, Miss Frances Pickell of East Whitehouse, an two brothers, George and Byron Pickell also of that place. The funeral was held on Monday Morning at the home. Rev. Wm. E. Compton (?) officiated and interment was at Oldiwck by undertaker J. Charles Alpaugh of Oldwick. (Hunterdon Co. Microfilm copy was very had to decipher). From Whitehouse Station Reivew, Wed. April 16, 1919, Peter C. Pickell, fifty-nine years old, died on Friday at his home near Oldwick on the Fairmount road. Deceased was the the son of Isaac Pickell and Mary Gulick, his wife, and was born where he died. He married Miss Mary Anderson of Califon, who survives him with one daughter, Mrs. Charles Craig of Somerville. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters; George Pickell, Miss Frances Pickell and Byran Pickell, all of Whithouse. Funeral serivces were held at his late home on Monday, Rev. William S. Coeyman, the retiring pastor of the Oldwick Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was made in the Oldwick cemetery, by the Funeral Director Charles Alpaugh.
