 (2) Lola Carol Soper on September 08, 1913 in Oroville, Butte Co., CA. She was born July 30, 1894 in Platte Co., MO, and died December 23, 1973 in Oroville, Butte Co., CA 95940. She was the daughter of Dr. Joseph J(efferson?) Soper and Mary Elizabeth Wingo.

  Lived in Oregon House when he was approximately 10 years old. He cared for his grandmother Mary A. (Klinck) Kelly when his parents moved to Marysville. His parents traded off the homestead at Oregon House for a horse and wagon, following the death of Mary, and C.L. Kelly and parents moved to Redding, Shasta Co., Ca. He finished growing up there, got a job as lineman with the Northern Ca. Power Co. After his marriage to Evie they lived in De La Mar and other company towns where his first two sons were born. He also did some professional gambling at that time.
  C.L. and wife spent some time cooking on a steamer on the Columbia River during their short marriage. Evie soon became fed up with C.L.K. and left with C.L.K.'s best freind, a man by the name of ? Berrigan. She divorced C.L.K. and married Barrigan.
  C.L.K. then got a job with the Northern Electric Railroad in Tres Vias near Oroville, where he met and married Lola Soper who was staying with some friends at Tres Vias. They bought a house at 1922 Pomona Ave. Oroville (It's Still there). They paid $400.00 for it in 1913, and their two children were born there.
  After working five years 12 hours a day 6 days a week for the Railroad for $90.00 a month, he went to work for the Oroville Creamery owned by Brerton Family, 1918 C.L. bought a new Model T Ford and took it apart to become an auto Mechanic. He worked on Model T Creamery trucks and started a repair shop at Pamona Ave., in a single car garage.
  After about five years there he bought a larger place on 2880 Mitchell Ave. He built a 20' by 30' garage and a 2 bedroom house there. The garage had a pit to get under cars; he also had a gas pump. "I (Earl L Kelly) grew up working on cars at Mitchell Ave." C.L.K. also wrecked many cars there.
  C.L.K. did some bootleging for a while, selling booze to some of the town's most honored people. He got caught once in 1932 spent one night in jail and paid a $625.00 Fine. Found guilty by Harry Hills.
  He moved to 2285 Bridge St. in 1934 and built a 30' by 40' garage there and continued business there until about 1946. He tapered off from age. He lived there until he died in 1963.
  He came to California with his mother in 1879, when 3 years old.
  C.L.Kelly had his mother make out a notarized birth certificate in Chico, August 14, 1942, Notarized by Larry Richardson. His fingerprint was taken by G.C. Post deputy Sheriff Butte Co., Ca. Place of birth was Nunda, Illinois, Mc Henry Co.
