Note: Reid Brundage Paige was born in Quantico, Virginia on October 11, 1935, the son of Henry Reid Paige and Gladys Mary Louise Brundage. He lived in various places as a young man, as his father was a career military. Most of his high school years were spent in Quantico, Virginia where he met his wife Ann Jones. He was active in the sports programs at his school and played on the football and basketball teams. After high school Reid won an appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland, with his sights set on getting his wings (becoming an aviator). Reid remembered as a young boy in Canton, New York, he watched some plane doing takeoffs and landings, and that was when he decided to pursue the goal of becoming a pilot. He graduated in 1958. Following his graduation he married the love of his life Ann Jones, on June 14, 1958, at the Navy Chapel, Washington D.C. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Pensacola, Florida where Reid began his flight training. After the birth of his first child Nancy, and earning his wings, Reid moved his new family to Kingsville, Texas where his second child Howard (Bud) was born. At this time Reid was stationed at Corpus Christie Naval Base. Their third child Kirk was born while living in Beaufort, South Carolina, and around this time Reid was stationed overseas in Okinawa, Japan. By 1965 The family had returned to Texas where they had their fourth child Todd in Beeville Texas, and where Reid trained new pilots to fly Jets (Navy F9F-8 Cougars). Soon afterwards Reid had the opportunity to join a commercial airline in California and he took it. The family located in Livermore, California in the fall of 1966. Reid was working for Pan American Airlines at the time and over the next few years he rose in rank and seniority. Reid and Ann also began attending St. Bartholomew's church where they grew in their faith, and met many lifelong friends. In 1969 Reid & Ann purchased their first new home at 1504 Vancouver Way in Livermore. In 1986 United purchased a number of Pan America's routes, and Reid had the chance to go to United without a drop in seniority. He took the opportunity and it was a good thing as Pan Am went out of business. His career continued well, and he made captain with United. The family moved from Livermore to San Ramon, Ca. in 1985, and again to Oakdale, Ca. in 1990. Reid retired in October, 1995. He stayed active in his church and was a member of the local Rotary club. Reid and Ann also take time out to travel in their RV and are members of the 1000 trails club. Reid enjoyed playing golf on occasion, and joined the local Oakdale golf club. Reid and Ann celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and grand children at South Lake Tahoe, California. Among various activities they went for a private family deck boat cruise on Lake Tahoe, and the adjacent Emerald Bay. They took lunch at the Riva Grill on the waterfront and later they gathered with family and were treated to gifts and lots of love. MEMORIAL Reid Brundage Paige Reid was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. A loyal friend and a person you could always rely on for calm reasoned advice, and loving support. Reid, a Virginia native, was a reserved, reflective, and loving person by nature. His full dedication to his family and his broader Christian community was always evident to everyone who knew him. He remained closely involved with the day to day affairs of his Church, and was always willing to help with the outreach programs serving the needs of his local community. Being a former Marine Corps and Commercial Airline pilot, he had no trouble at all managing something as small as a 38 foot RV. He took his family on many trips in his RV over the years, from 25 mile swim meet day trips to full on cross-country round trips. At one point he considered a fulltime RV lifestyle. Family life for Reid and Ann was always about staying close and connected, with activities like whole family Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings, and many family reunions. Reid is survived by his wife Ann in Oakdale, CA, three sisters; Shirley Robison and husband Gerald of Hamilton, MO, Ann Packard and husband Harry of San Diego, CA and Mary Ellen Marquand of Carlsbad, CA, and the families of his four children; Nancy and Alan Rutter of Manteca, CA, Bud and Patty Paige of Manteca, CA, Kirk and Vicky Paige of Los Altos, CA, and Todd and Cindy Paige of Selma, CA, and his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
