 The 1850 Census for District 37 in Rock Island Co., Illinois finds William as a farmer age 32 with real estate valued at about $500. The census goes on to state he was born in Virginia and his wife "Zilla" age 26 was born in Indiana. The family at the time of the census had 4 children listed as follows;
 1. Joseph age 10 born in Indiana,
 2. Mary L. age 7 born in Illinois,
 3. John age 4 born in Illinois and
