Note: Known as "Aunt Emma". - MRS. GEORGE DANDO , Ogdensburg - Mrs. Emma Paige Dando, 83, wife of Rev. George Dando, 116 Jersey Ave., died at 6:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 1969 in A. Barton Hepburn Hospital where she was admitted July 26. She underwent surgery Nov. 23 and later was admitted to Cedars Nursing Home, Riverside Drive. She had been in poor health since she suffered a stroke four years ago. The body was at United Methodist Church from 1 p.m. Monday until 2 p.m. when the funeral was conducted by Rev. Robert E. Jones, Canton, district superintendent of United Methodist Church, and Rev. Allen T. Dodge, Watertown. Burial was made in the Paige plot in the Ogdensburg Cemetery. Surviving, besides her husband, Protestant Chaplain at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital and former pastor of the United Methodist Church, Ogdensburg, are five nephews and a step-son, Norman Dando, Bartow; Fla., teacher in a Winter Haven, Fla., college. Mrs. Dando was born June 19, 1886, in Ogdensburg; daughter of Alfred A. and Susanne Hewitt Paige. Her grandfather, Rev, John T. Hewitt, was pastor of the Methodist UChurch of Ogdensburg from 1866 to 1869. She was married on July 6, 1911, to John J. Richards, a high school principal and instructor of English. The couple lived in Brooklyn and Staten Island, where she was organist of the Reformed Church Mr. Richards died in February, 1944. She was married to Rev. Mr. Dando on Dec. 10, 1945, at the Methodist church here, with Rev. W. O. Thomas, then district superintendent, officiating. Mr. Dando was pastor, of the Ogdensburg church from 1940 to 1947; His other charges were Rome, 1947 to 1957, and other New York parishes. He became Protestant chaplain at the hospital after retiring and returning to Ogdensburg. Mrs. Dando was an accomplished organist and singer. She became a soloist in the choir of the Ogdensburg church at the age of 12.
