Notes
a. Note:   1880 census shows a 2 year old Charles living with his parents and sister in Shasta Co., California.
 -
The 1910 census finds Charles, a school teacher. He was married twice, currently to Pearl V. (Briggs) Zevely. They were living on 2nd St. in the Empire District of Coos Co., Oregon
 -
On Jan. 22, 1915 Charles, then a principal at Oak Ridge School in Eugene, Oregon was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of one Rachel Tiller, aged 17. A former pupil who died at the home of her parents in Cottage Grove, on January 13, 1915, a few hours after she had given birth to a boy.
This charge must not have been to implicate him directly for her death as Charles (still a teacher) appears on the 1920 census.
 -
Charles and Pearl had divorced by the 1920 Tehama Co., CA census, and he is found in Monkland, Sherman Co., Oregon.
 -
Charles was buried as a Veteran in the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, San Mateo County, California. His rank is recorded there as Sergant, US Army, and his residence was recorded as Helena, California.
