Clintsman, who lives about six miles out, drove into town Sunday evening and hitched his horse under the church shed. When he drove out, the horse ran away, throwing him out and bruising him badly. The horse then ran into one of the large windows of the postoffice building and smashed it." - He appears in the 1890 St. Lawrence Co. Directory, living in Russell, along with Peter. - Orville's tragic death: Published "The Daily Journal" November 29, 1893. DIED OF DRINK AND EXPOSURE. A Temperance Lesson from the Town of Russell. Russell, Nov. 23. - The people of our village were much surprised on Thursday morning last to learn of the death of Mr. Orville Clintsman, a man who lived in the south part of our town. Report says he and his son had been at Edwards the day before to get a cow and the father freely indulged in drinking, both at Edwards and on their way home. When they were within about a mile of home, Mr. Clintsman told his boy to drive home with the horse and he (the father) would come on with the cow. It appears, that when left alone, the poor man made but little progress, for near daylight the following morning, he was found by those in search of him, a lifeless corpse in the fence corner, not far from where his little son left him the previous evening. A coroner came, and from the evidence before the jury it appears that the weary man crawled under the fence, and from intoxication and exposure died. A post-mortem examination was had and we understand such was the decision. Now reader, if you have ever been guilty of selling strong drink to Mr. Clintsman or any other person who used it as a beverage, we ask you to reflect upon the great crime. Much might be said about the evils of intemperance in connection with this case, but we do not wish to cause the family who mourn, pain. They have the sympathy of all in their affliction. - He had an estate probated on 1 Dec. 1893 in Canton, St. Lawrence Co., N.Y.
