Notes
a. Note:   Firstly, anyone reading this will delight in visiting the "must-see" website which I found during my research efforts:
__ www1.cedar-rapids.net/hindman/MILTTAGG.HTM __ If the data I am posting is like reading a recipe, the CedarRapids site (several pages) is like savoring Thanksgiving dinner.
Several other researchers have posted the extended family of Milton TAGGART, so I need not repeat it.
For the thrill of the find, I wanted to document the names of his parents and believe that I have been successful. Although the age of Milton is not consistent in the census records, experienced researchers will know that this frequently occurs (admittedly, most entrants become younger, rather than older).
Milton TAGGART was located in these census records:
 1850.PA,ButlerCO,SlipperyRock;pg.#315a/625 - Aug.08,1850 = age 3
 1860.PA,VenangoCO,Irvin-FranklinPO;pg.#307/13 - Aug.23,1860 = age 13
 1870.WI,LafayetteCO,Gratiot;pg.#417a/39 - Jul.06,1870 = age 26
 1880.NE,AntelopeCO,Mills/ED#131;pg.#159d/11 - Jun.10,1880 = age 38
 1900.NE,SheridanCO,Mill/ED#181;pg.#239/2a - Jun.05,1900 = DOB:July,1840; age 59
 1910.NE,SheridanCO,Ranch-Beaver/ED#206?;pg.#008b/8b - May09,1910 = age 69
 1920.NE,SheridanCO,Beaver-HaySprings/ED#229;pg.#163/4a - Jan.14,1920 = age 79
 1930.NE,SheridanCO,Beaver/ED#81-001;pg.#003b/3b - Apr.29,1930 = age 89.
Milton TAGGART's birth location is consistently listed as PA; too, both parents consistently are listed as of PA origin. Only in the 1930 census does Milton include a middle initial, M. That initial led me to the the only alternative seen as worthy of consideration (subsequently dismissed):
 Moses TAGGART
 1850.PA,WashingtonCO,Chartiers;pg.#330a/659 - Sep.09,1850 = age 12.
Various databases list Milton's birth as 1840 or 1842: Milton, himself, may not have correctly recalled his DOB. Seemingly, he decided upon July, 1840, for the 1900 census and used that date as a basis for each subsequent enumeration.
Dates aside, it is the recurring proximity of the family of __Charles BLANCHARD__ which proves that Milton, son of George TAGGART, is the same Milton who married Rachel THOMPSON.
  Census records for Charles BLANCHARD:
 1850.NY,ErieCO,Alden;pg.#144a/387? = Jul.16,1850 - - (BLANCHARD is neighbor to Philo FORD*)
 1860.WI,LafayetteCO,Wiota;pg.#961a/10 = Jul.18,1860 - - (BLANCHARD is neighbor to Philo FORD*)
 1870.WI,LafayetteCO,Gratiot;pg.#417a/39 = GratiotPO; Jul.06,1870 - - (BLANCHARD household includes Milton TAGGART)
 * Philo FORD's daughter, Phoebe Ann, married Milton TAGGART's brother-in-law, George William THOMPSON.
At __ www.RootsWeb.com __, there is a posting of "Pennsylvania Veterans Living in Nebraska in 1895", transcribed for the NEGenWeb Archives by Alice Miller. Those listed as serving in the _100th Pennsylvania Volunteers_, include:
 Company B: GIBSON, W. W.; SHUCKBACK, Parkhurst.
 Company F: BANKS, S. A.; FIELDGROVE, Henry; MANGOLD, John;
McCREARY, James; QUEST, J. D.; and SMITH, John.
Company G: KELSO, Joseph; TAGGART, Milton.
 Company I: GILMORE, E.
 Company K: McCANN, Thomas.
Most researchers will enjoy reading the fascinating and informative pages linked to:
 __ www.100thpenn.com/history.htm __
The list of Company G members does _not_ include Milton TAGGART, but based on the newspaper article transcribed at the aforementioned CedarRapids website ("His regiment at that time numbered only 481 men..."), many other enlistees also are not therein itemized.
NOTE: Company G's Joseph KELSO may be viewed at:
 1870.PA,LawrenceCO,Mahoning-EdinburghPO;pg.#058b/28 - Jun.13,1870 1880.NE,HamiltonCO,Scoville/ED#093?;pg.#285b/6 - Jun.09,1880 1900.NE,HallCO,5p-4wGrandIsland/ED#084;pg.#259/13a - Jun.14,1900 NOTE: Company F's Henry FIELDGROVE may be viewed at:
1870.PA,LawrenceCO,SlipperyRock-NewCastlePO;pg.#247b/24 - Jul.16,1870 (Milton TAGGART=1850.PA,ButlerCO,_SlipperyRock_) NOTE: Of great interest is that these parents, George & Martha TAGGART (& their children, _except Milton_), are listed as linked to Torpedo,--,PA (now WarrenCO) at: ____ www.FamilySearch.org ____
NOTE: Only after hunting the documentation for Milton's parents did I find a database which states the obvious! It has _Mylton_ TAGGART with these parents, these siblings and with the DOB as 1847. The detailed DOBs suggest they have better sources than do I (perhaps a family bible or book of local history). It may be viewed as part of the free files (search for "Mylton" TAGGART) ) at:
____ www.Ancestry.com ____ TITLE: RobertShawRelations Entries: 8700 Updated: Mon Aug 26 20:37:01 2002 Contact: Tom Robertshaw (his email address is posted online). If you carefully evaluate the census records I listed in the notes of George TAGGART, perhaps you will come to the conclusion that Milton's grandfather was James (my vote) or John TAGGART. I have no doubt that Samuel TAGGART is George's brother or cousin. Hopefully, someone will locate proof of these relationships and share it.
