Note: California at the age of 86 years old. She was born June 1, 1912 inSumner County, Tennessee, the seventh of nine children of JulianHerschell and Mary Ethel Brizendine. She is survived by her youngersister Dorothy Warner and younger brother Harold Brizendine, both ofModesto, California. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Dovicki. They weremarried in 1941 and made their home in Hinsdale, Illinois where theylived coninually until Fred's death in July, 1997. Cordia was amember of the Hinsdale Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Cordida graduated from the Takoma Hospital and Sanitarium School ofNursing, Greenville, Tennessee. As a registered nurse she worked formany years at the Hinsdale Hospital. She also worked in the officerof Dr. Floyd Brayshaw. After her husband's retirement in 1976, sheand Fred spent many hours in volunteer service for Hinsdale Hospital,where Cordia had over 7,500 hours of service. All who new Cordia where touched by her beautiful smile and lovingkindness. Gardening, flower arrangements, knitting and crochetingwere among her hobbies. The Dovicki's enjoyed tours of the Holy Landand Europe which were organized by the Hinsdale SDA Church during theearly 1980's At the request of the family there will be no memorial service.Internment will be at Chapel Hill Gardens, Elmhurst, Illinois.Donations in rememberance of Cordia can be made to the BroadviewAcademy, Worthy Student Fund, Post Office Box 307, La Fox, Illinois,or to the Hinsdale Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
