  Nelson Bynum was born in probably Haiti. Little is known about his background but he was sold into slavery at the age of 8. He was sold to the Ungerhart family of Seaboard, North Carolina.
 She married Anychin Ungerhart on June 11, 1849 in Seaboard, North Carolina. They had five children (see charts)
