 Be it remembered that on the twenty fourth day of the first Month one thousand Eight hundred a twenty Six that I Amos Mills of Guilford County & State of North Carolina being of sound mind & disposing memory, do make and ordain this my last will & Testament in manner and Form following. First & foremost, It is my will that all my Just debts and funeral charges be first paid.
  Item: I Give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth all my land and Tenements during her natural life, also all my personal property, Except such as Shall hereafter be otherwise disposed of, as my wife Elizabeth being in a state of insanity, I do hereby appoint and order my son Jeremiah Mills to be her Guardian & to take into his possession all the Property, which I have bequeathed to her, & I hereby grant & empower him the said Jeremiah, to manage her estate, in the way & manner which he may think most advantageous to the interests of the Legatees, & her comfort and Support, and if my son Jeremiah should take care of his mother, and furnish her with a competent share of the necessaries of life, during her natural life, that he shall receive complete & ample compensation for his trouble, from the profits arising from the farm a sale of perishable property, and if my Son Jeremiah should fail to furnish his mother with a competent share of the necessaries of life suitable to her age a condition that he shall be removed from his Guardianship and another appointed. It is my will that if anything remain in the hands of the Guardian at the decease of my wife Elizabeth that the same be sold at public sale & equally divided among my heirs. It is my will that if any difference should arise among my heirs relative to my estate that such difference so arising shall be settled by two men chosen by the disputants but if they cannot agree the two shall choose the third whose discretion shall be as binding on the parties as the Verdict of a Jury.
 Item: I give to my Son Nathan my Rifle Gun.
 Item: I give unto my Son Jonathan Six yards of home spun full cloth.
 Item: I give unto ray daughter Elizabeth Couch Two ewe Sheep.
 Item: I give unto my daughter Rachel Maris Two Owe Sheep & that they take choice out of my flock.
 Item: I give unto Granddaughter Rachel Mills one two year old heifer.
 Item: It is my will that my granddaughter Ruth Mills have its first heifer calf.
 Item: Also that Betsey Mills have the first heifer calf that Ruth has.
  I hereby make & ordain my son Jeremiah & John Maris my Executors to this my last Will & testament revoking all others. In witness whereof I the said Amos Mills have hereunto set my hand & Seal the day a year above written, Signed Sealed published and delivered by the Testator in the presents of us George Stephens, Jehu Stephens, Mashack Couch (Jurat), State of North Carolina, Guilford County
