March 1854 NY. 1930 Census, son Emery sez father Canadian French Gilberts baptismal record states that he was born 3-4-1854. Gilbert senior was born 9-24-1829. Gilberts father Michael, and brother Francois were present at the wedding. Gilbert had 14 siblings. Most records at that time recorded the name as MOYSE. There is also a book on the Moses family in Montreal written by Gaston Dupuis. Dupuis is the original name for the Moses line. The great Grandfather of Gilbert I, Rigobert Dupuis, took the name Rigobert Dupuis dit Moise. There after, all of his children and descendants took the name Moyse or Moise. Rigobert died at the age of 97 in a Cholera epidemic. His son Michel Moyse, b abt 1791 is our common grandparent. Michael married Louise Guerin in St. Joachim De Chateauguay on 1-09-1809. You will find much info on LDS films for Ste. Martine de Chateauguay and St. Antoine Abbe in Quebec, and also St. Joachim de Chateauguay. I have done extensive reviewing of those records. My first Moise ancestor, Jacques Moise, came to America between 1850 and 1860. He lived in the Clinton and Franklin county areas. My line settled in the Malone area. Jacques is a brother to Gilbert I. I was aware of Gilbert being in the area, but I lost track of him when he stopped appearing on the church records. It is ironic that most of the family info I have came from LDS film of Canadian church records. I saw your LDS submissions also. I discovered your line because my daughter met Leroy Moses' daughter in law, Kathy, in Columbus Ohio. They began talking and discovered they may be relatives. I confirmed it yesterday. I discovered your name in the submitter category at Familysearch.org and then again when I searched Rootsweb for Gilbert. Gilberts baptismal record states that he was born 3-4-1854. Please tell me where North Hudson is. I would like to visit the area, and meet any relatives who might still live there. Do you have any pictures of any Moses families? Please reply I currently live in Homer NY. From: "C Moses" To: "Fred V.
