Mr. Claude Saunders, acting superintendent of the Daryman's League Plant, left Saturday for his vacation at 1 home in. Painted Post, and returned Tuesday evening. Ti Sentinel, 16 Sep, 1943. Claude Sanford Saunders, Elizabethtown friends were shocked to learn of the passing of Claude S Saunders on Tuesday evening April 17th, 1951 at Moses Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga, aged 59 years. It had not been realized by his friends that his illness was of such a serious nature. Mr Saunders was the son of the late Sandoed Sanders and Lydia Shrivall of Ticonderoga, both of whom passed away some years ago. Claude S Saunders was united in marriage October 15th, 1927 to Miss Edith Lovina Brown, eldest daughter of the late George L Brown and Edith Durand Brown of Elizabethtown at the brides home. The ceremony being performed by the Reverend Percy Paris, then rector of the Church of the Cross in Ticonderoga, and Rev. Elbert Beebe of the First Baptist church of Elizabethtown. The bride had been for several years a teacher in the Ticonderoga school. During the illness of George L. Brown, who passed away in August, 1932, the young people with Mrs. Saunders, sr., came to FJizabethtawn to stay with Mrs. Brown for a time,returning to Ticonderoga 1934, Mr. Saunders resumed his work at the mill. Mrs. Saunders had continued teaching, The Saunders home has been for a long time on Lake George Avenue near the school. Recently Mr. Saunders had been employed at the telephone building. He is going to be very much missed in Elizabethtown as well as in his native town of Ticonderoga as, he had many friends. Mr. Saunders was a member of the Church of the Cross in Ticonderoga and has been a vestryman for several years. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Cross in Ticonderoga at 11 a., m. Friday morning, with Rev. Harold F " Church of the Cross interment was in Mount Hope cemetery.
