A remarkably long and eminently useful and helpful earthly life came to a peaceful close at 4 o'clock Monday morning when Mrs Lovina (Kneeland) Brown, widow of the late Levi DeWitt Brown, died at tbe home of ber youngest son just south of this village, in the 91st year of ber age. Lovina Kneeland, a daughter of the late Simeon Kneeland and Prudence Cady, his wife, was born in Charlestown Montgomery County N. Y., November 24, 1820. In the month of March, 1839, she came through the Schroon aud Boquot valleys to Elizabethtown with her father and his large family, since which time she has presided here, witnessing the various changes incident to a confinous residence of over 78 years. May 4, 1841, she married the late Levi Dewit Brown, the ceremony being performed in the house on the Plain in the village by tbe late Rev. C.C. Stevens, then pastor of tbeCongregatioual Church Of Elizabethtown. 'She was about tbe house until five days before her death and when failing strength prevented her from leav "ng her bed that true Christian faith and sweet disposition which lent such charm to various occasions in ber prime, were i'n evidence. As she, lay on her deathbed only a few hours before the earthly life spark ent out siie was heard to say "Tbe Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. " She died as she had wished to die—happy in Christian faith, suruiuled bv her.four sous. Friend Abner, John Kneeland, Walter Scott id (jenrge Levi, and their wives, all of whom were with her in the last hours doing at! that loving hands could do to "soften the pillow." Besides the above mentioned relatives, she is survived by a dearly be- •ed sister —Mrs. Prudence C. Spencer of Newark, N. J.. a grandson— Edward L Smith of Baltimore, Md., a granddaughter, Miss Minnie A. Smith of Oaldand, Md., live granddaughters, Mrs. Fred A. Marvin, Miss Mary E , Miss Kdith L., Miss Atialita A. and Miss Helen D. Brown and a grandson Thomas A. Brown of Elizabethtown. Four great graud • survive, Miss Marion E.
