Benjamin Day Date: Mon, 01 Apr 2002 12:10:14 -0600 References: <59.196ddcb8.29d8f2c9@aol.com> Carol What little I know about my Foote line comes from a book about the Van Benschoten family. The book states that Jane and William Foote are sister and brother, but lists no parents. I don't know about Benjamin Day, but the Van Benschoten book has a William Day, who married Jane Van Scoter (1st cousin to Elias). William and Jane had a daughter Elizabeth who married a Philo Foote (b. 1824). Elias Van Scoter and Jane Foote named their youngest son Philo, which makes me wonder if Philo Foote and Jane Foote were related. In my searching I found this site: http://www.uftree.com/UFT/WebPages/dansiskowic/LFOOTE/index.htm This site has siblings, Jane and William Foote, but no birthdates. Their parents are listed as Levi Foote and Catherine Van Scooter. This William Foote is married to a Cornelia Day. Their children are: Maggie Foote, Hattie Foote, Mary Foote, Cary Foote, Mae Foote, and Chester William Foote (b. 3/23/1855). No birthplaces are listed at this site. Could Cornelia Day be connected to your Benjamin Day. This is the only Day info that I have. If any of it connects please let me know. If you get an answer would you let me know also? Thanks, Carol http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nyallega/bird.html Birdsall Birdsall was formed from Allen and Almond on May 4, 1829. It is an interior town, lying northeast of the center of the county. The first settlement was made by Josiah Whitman on Lot 24 in 1816. James Mathews, from New Jersey, settled on Section 21, near the center in 1818. Previous to this, Mr. Vance, William P. Schaanck from New Jersey, Jeremiah Van Wormer, and William Day from Cayuga county had located in town. The first child born was James E. Mathews, March 7, 1820. The first marriage was Samuel Van Wickle and Harriet Freeman in 1821. Hannah Scott taught the first school in 1822. Josiah Whitman kept the first inn in 1820. &nbps;Joseph B. Welch kept the first store in 1828. The first sawmill was erected on Black Creek by Elijah Hull and David Peterson in 1823. The first religious meeting was held at the house of William Day in 1823, by Rev. Robert Hubbard. The first church (Methodist Episcopal) was formed by Rev. Eleazur Day in 1825. The first town meeting was held at the house of James Matthews in 1829.... The first religious services were held at the house of Wm. Dey, by Rev. I could not find a probate image on Family Search Org, but not all the records (around 1863) were indexed. The microfilm below might have his name if there is a record for him. According to Find a Grave she was born in 1772. This means she would have been 14 when he was born. Not unheard of.
