Note: Obituary: 1826 - 1918. Jane Agnes Hamilton was born January 6, 1826, in County Down, Ireland, and died at her home in Cass, July 14, 1918, as the result of a broken hip, being 92 years, six months and eight days old. At the age of 16 years she joined the Presbyterian church, and always attended church whenever possible. When she was 25 she came with her parents to America and settled in Wisconsin. She was one of the family of six children, all having preceded her to the better land. She was married to O. T. Day, and to this union was born four children, Simon Andrew, Alfred Anthony, George and Thomas William. George and Alfred preceded her in death. In 1858, the family removed to Iowa, and here she spent the remainder of her life. There is left to mourn her loss, her two sons, Simon and Thomas, the latter with whom she made her home for the past 35 years, seven grand-children, who did all that loving hands could do for her. Their greatest pleasure was when they could render her some service. At the last her greatest pleasure was to hear them read the bible, the only book she cared for. The funeral was held Tuesday at Cass church, Rev. Geo. Hughes officiating. Interment was at Cass Center Cemetery. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=day&GSiman=1&GScid=2260925&GRid=68350603& Agnes Jane Hamilton Day Birth: Jan. 26, 1826 Death: Jul. 12, 1918 Note: born in Scotland -w/o Orson Thomas Day Burial: Cass Cemetery Jones County Iowa, USA http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1880usfedcen&h=23484350&ti=0&indiv=try&gss=pt&ssrc=pt_t37616407_p19436682378_kpidz0q3d19436682378z0q26pgz0q3d32768z0q26pgplz0q3dpid 1880 United States Federal Census about Jane Day Name: Jane Day Age: 45 Birth Year: abt 1835 Birthplace: Ireland Home in 1880: Cass, Jones, Iowa Race: White Gender: Female Relation to Head of House: Self (Head) Marital Status: Divorced Father's Birthplace: Ireland Mother's Birthplace: Ireland Neighbors: View others on page Occupation: Farming Cannot read/write: Blind: Deaf and dumb: Otherwise disabled: Idiotic or insane: View Image Household Members: Name Age Jane Day 45 Simon A. Here's the application and instructions - http://idph.state.ia.us/apl/common/pdf/vital_records/death_application.pdf You must have your application (by mail) notarized. You can have that done at your local bank, (most likely) for free. or the Jones County Courthouse - http://www.jonescountyiowa.org/Pages/default.aspx Birth, Death, and Marrigage records are maintained in the Recorder's Office, issuing Marriage Licenses, and Certified copies of Vital Records. As a service to the public, we take Passport pictures at a cost of $10.00. http://www.archives.gov/publications/prologue/1998/summer/women-and-naturalization-1.html Info on women's naturalization records.
