Notes
a. Note:   Browns Station was a railroad stop in the 1870's in Waterford Township, Clinton Co, with a country hotel and dining room, store and a post office. But when the new Milwaukee Railroad came through, the town was moved about 1 1/2 miles and that was called New Browns. There was a time when they considered building their church at Old Browns, but when Henry Nurre donated the land where the church and cemetery is, they built it there instead. St. Joseph's Church and Cemetery is known locally as Sugar Creek Church and Cemetery, and it was never in either one of the "Browns". It is a lovely, very tiny country church with nice stained glass windows. In 1956 Sugar Creek consisted of a small cluster of houses nestled in the creek valley. Notes taken from the Reiff Family History Book.
