In research at the Missouri Historical Society, from the St. Louis city directories, I was able to determine that Joseph Lipic I, lived at the Straka residence located at 4549 S. Broadway, in 1900. This was two years after his marriage to Emma Straka and a year after Joseph Lipic II appears to have been born. The 1920 census records show Joseph ll to be 20 years old.
This suggests Joseph Lipic I was married to ( Emma ) Straka at this time or prior to this date.
This has been confirmed and a copy of the application for a license to marry dated May 24, 1898 and a Marriage License with date of marriage May 25, 1898 is on file in the Lipic Family Archives, Located at 3177 Winslow Way, Arnold, Mo. at the home of the researcher Jack Underwwod. December 1999.
In the year 1899 an Annie Straka, widow of William J. (?), appears at this same address 4549 South Broadway, St. Louis, Missouri.
Emma Straka was alive in 1880, 1890, 1900. However let the record show, Anna M. ( Kasper ) Straka was married to George W. Straka until the time of his death in 1895. The record shows George and Anna were married July 26, 1870 in St. Louis. Emma Straka was born on March 6, 1879. George was age 23 and Anna was age 17, at the time of this marriage.
They are buried at Ressurection Cemetery, 6901 Mackenzie Road St. Louis, section 2, S-1-36W. Headstone reads George W. Strake 1847-1895, Anna M. Strake 1853-1903. George was 48 and Anna was 50, at the time of their deaths. All of the above is confirmed with copies in the Lipic family archives.
Emma ( Straka ) Lipic ( at the time spelled Leppeck ) ,the application for a marriage license was spelled Lepek and the Marriage License was spelled Lepik, gave birth to four children- Joseph George Lipic II

Eight days after the birth of Walter, Emma ( Straka ) Leppeck ( Lipic ) passed away on March 17, 1904, cause of death child bed fever. A copy of the death certificate and burial permit are on file in the Lipic Family Archives.
In the year 1889 a Emma Straka appears in the St. Louis City Directory as a resident of ' Home of the friendless.' No other Straka is Listed that year at 4549 S. Broadway. The 'Home of the friendless is now called The Charless House on South Broadway in St, louis and a spokesperson there informed me, in the past, employees did live at the residence. Emma would have been 10 years old at that time.
