Note: David Lamar Smith October 11, 1958 --- March 5, 2002 David Lamar Smith of Frederick died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at his home in Frederick. He was 43 years old. He was born on October 11, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas to Willie B. and Myrna (Jones) Smith. He lived in Texas before moving to Colorado with his family while still in school. He lived in the Frederick area much of his adult life. On March 7, 1998, he married Pat Weeks at the Rinn United Methodist Church. They lived in Longmont and moved back to Frederick in 2001. Mr. Smith worked as a farmer and enjoyed his country lifestyle. He farmed alfalfa. Several years ago he also raised hogs. He loved going back to his rural roots in Texas to visit the family. He is a member of Rinn United Methodist Church. At the church he enjoyed playing the drums in the "Second Childhood Band" in the 9:00 Contemporary Service. Prior to the Band starting, he sang in the choir. He got to know the woman who would become his wife while in the choir. Pat was the choir Director. He enjoyed oil painting, especially mountain scenes. He wrote lyrics for songs for the Band. Along with his drumming, he also played harmonica. Dave is survived by his wife, Pat Smith; his father and mother Willie and Myrna Smith of Longmont; his sister Glenda Erskine and her husband Chuck, of Longmont; a niece Amber Erskine and a nephew Josh Erskine, both of Longmont; a stepson Brian Michael Weeks of Jacksonville, Florida and a stepdaughter Erika Lynn Weeks of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends, and the loving family dog Tooter. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 pm, Monday, March 11, at Rinn United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kay Palmer Marsh officiating. Cremation has occured at Erlinger's Cremation Service, Longmont.
