Gilbert-Petition Notice-State Of Texas, County fo DeWitt, "I hereby make publication that Jasper L. Gilbert hath filed a Petition with the Honorable Probate Judge of said County In vacation praying to be appointed guardian to the minor heirs of him and his wife Sarah E. Gilbert, deceased, namely Pleasant L. Gilbert and Bartley S. Gilbert under the age of 14 years. This is to notify all persons interested in said petition to attend at the Court House in the town of Cameron on the last Monday in September 1847. It being the 27th day of said month and the regular term of Probate Court as said petition will then be acted upon. Given under my Official Signature this 13th September A.D. 1847-James N. Smith Ex Officio, Clerk" State of Texas, County of DeWitt/Land Deed/dated June 17, 1861, "Jasper L. Gilbert, Pleasant L. Gilbert Bond to Nat'l M. Stukes" Document includes land inherited by Jasper L. Gilbert and Pleasant L., and Bartley S. Gilbert from Bird Lockhart's 1/3 league of land in DeWitt County, Texas. This document also states that Bartley Gilbert will reach age of maturity on 30th day of September A.D. 1862." Same document states that , "Know all men by these presents that we Jasper L. Gilbert and Pleasant L. Gilbert joined by his wife Burthenia Gilbert." It is presumed that Pleasant L. Gilbert died soon after. Burthenia Gilbert remarried to J.W. Robinson in 1870, DeWitt County, Texas. Also Pleasant L. Gilbert-, Company C, third (Yagers) Battalion, Texas Cavalry/Private/enlistment May 1862/Camp Aransas, Refugio, County, Texas/ Captain Donnelly/appears on Muster Rolls for: July to November 1862; November and December 1862; March and April 1863/ Pleasant Gilbert, Private First Texas Cavalry appears on the List of Prisoners surrendered and paroled at Victoria, Texas prior to August 8, 1865/Residence-DeWitt County, Texas-Stockraiser
