a. Note:   Documents found in the Audited Republic of Texas files (archives Texas) revealed reimbursement for Byrd B. Lockhart. $67.86 for military services, 28 September, 1835, was approved 12 June, 1838.
 Another document shows: "This is to certify that Byrd B. Lockhart on my company entered the Federal Army of Texas on the 28th day of September, 1835 and as one of the members who enterd Bexar on the 5th day of December, he has in all respects discharged his duty with honor to Texas and credit to himself he has this day, December the 13th, 1835-signed York/Captain of Brases(?)."
 Another document: "I do hereby certify that Byrd B. Lockhart was enrolled in my spy company of mounted volunteers on the 4th day of July and that he is this day honorably discharged______HeadQuarters in Coleto- August the 16th, 1836=signed Byrd B. Lockhart, Captain."
 Another document: "Byrd B. Lockhart did receive of the Quartermaster a pair of shoes"-signed Byrd Lockhart.
 According to DeWitt's Colony records-LOCKHART, BYRD B., was single male, who arrived Febuary, 1829, he was granted 1/4 league of land; received his title-May 25, 1831. He is listed as original settler of DeWitt County, Texas.
 Texas General Land Office, Austin, Texas- "Survey 19 in class #2 of one quareter league of land made for Byrd B. Lockhart and is situated on the South West side of the Guadalupe River above the LaBahia road four miles beginning at a stake on the bank of said river from which there is an elm 9 inches in diameter bears S 43 E 2 varas and a ditto 9 inches in diameter bears S 25 W 4 varas." Byrd Lockhart surveyor July 1829.
 According to court document dated 12th day of Febuary, 1846, Republic of Texas, county of Gonzales- Byrd B. Lockhart-three persons ask for their share of the headrights of Byrd B. Lockhart-namely Jasper L. Gilbert, William P. Patterson, and Andrew Lockhart. Jasper L. Gilbert is the husband of Sarah Elvira Lockhart Gilbert; William P. Patterson is the husband of Drusilla Malinda Lockhart Patterson. Sarah Elvira and Drusilla are the daughters of Andrew Lockhart.
 It is then presumed that these persons are the next of kin.
 According to Tax rolls of DeWitt County, Texas, 1846-Jasper L. Gilbert-pays taxes on property-original grantee-Byrd B. Lockhart. Jasper L. Gilbert continues to pay taxes on this land for several years.
