a. Note:   Leander lived in Big Spring until 1883 when moved to Lindina Twp near Mauston, Wisconsin.
  Juneau, Chronicle (Wisconsin ), 04-04-1918 Leander Judson Foster was born in Oneida, New York near Lake Oneida, June 26, 1833 and died at his home in this city (Mauston) March 29, 1918, aged 84 years, 9 months and 3 days. The deceased when a small boy came west with his parents and settled on a farm in Dane, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Dorotha E. Garton Oct. 5, 1855 and 11 children were born to them, 6 sons and 5 daughters. 2 daughters Celia E. and Laura and 1 son, Orrin F. preceded their father to the eternal home. During the Civil War, Mr. Foster listed in, I, 13th regiment; served a short time and was discharged on account of sickness. Later re enlisted in, K, 42nd Reg. and served until the close of the war. After his discharge he resided on a farm near Big Springs, Adams, until 1883 when he moved to Lindina, this county where his life was one of usefulness and industry. In 1900 he retired and moved to this city where he resided until his death. Besides his wife, he leaves 5 sons and 3 daughters - 1 sister and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the home Monday morning at 10:30 conducted by J.E. Watson of the M.E. Church. Relatives attending out of the city were Mr. and Mrs. Ira Foster, Mr. Edwin Foster and son Ray of Kilbourn, Leanard Foster of Grand Marsh and Mr. and Mrs. James Sly of Milwaukee.
