 Death Came Friday Morning; Buried at Corinth Saturday
 Mrs. J. B. Burgess died at her home in this city Friday morning about ten o'clock. She had been in ill health for several months, but had been improving recently and appeared to be well on the way to recovery. Death was due to heart failure, and was entirely unexpected by friends and relatives. She was buried at Corinth church cemetery Saturday afternoon at three o'clock, Rev. C. W. Payseur, pastor of the Cherokee Avenue Baptist church of this city, conducting the funeral.
 Mrs Burgess was fifty-five years of age. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kirby of this city, who survive her. Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband; two brothers, Messrs. S. J. and F. D. Kirby; three sisters, Mrs. Mollie Marsh, Mrs. W. C. Lipscombe, and Mrs. F. V. Turner; and eight children, Messers. N. B. Burgess, W. C. Burgess, and Junie Burgess, Mrs. Wofford Kirby, Mrs. Thomas Wyatt, Misses Lola, Mollie and Irene Burgess; and a number of more distant relatives throughout Cherokee county.
 Mrs, Burgess was a member of Corinth church, having joined in her early girlhood. Throughout her life she worked consistently for the betterment of her fellow-man and her memory as a good and noble woman will always be held in respect by all who knew her.
