a. Continued:   The Spartanburg Herald, Spartanburg, S. C., July 31 1973 Lyman Burgess Gaffney - Lyman Burgess, 59, died noon Monday at his home after a brief illness. Native of Cherokee County; son of the late Frank and Mary Sparks Burgess; member of Chesnee Southside Baptist Church; veteran of World War II; textile worker. Surviving: son, Terry Burgess of Chesnee; sisters, Mrs. Ruth Hopper of Converse, Mrs. Lula Albright of Aiken and Mrs. Mamie Hughey of Forest City, N. C.; brother, Ernest Burgess of Gaffney. Services 3 Wednesday at Forest Lawn Mortuary, Chesnee, by the Revs. William F. Walker and Donald Airsman; burial in Stateline Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Calvin and David Walker, Danford Phillips, Harold Frank , Billy Burgess and Mason White. Family is at the home of a sister, Mrs. Mamie Hughey of Forest City; to receive friends 7-9 tonight at the mortuary.
