BURGESS Lula Mae Addison BURGESS, 96, of White Oak Estates and formerly of West Main St. in Pacolet, died Oct. 16, 1998, in White Oak Estates. A native of Franklin County, Ga., she was the widow of William Arthur BURGESS and daughter of the late John Lawrence and Anna A. Fain Addison. She was a retired educator, having taught at Pacolet Mills Elementary School, and also worked in the school office. She was a graduate of Georgia State Teachers College and attended Winthrop College. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and was former church secretary. She was former president of WMU, and a Sunday school teacher since 1922. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mildred B. Laney of Los Angeles; two sisters, Hazel Kerns of Miami, and Estelle Pennington of Smyrna, Ga.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m. today at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Services will be held at 3 p.m. in the chapel, conducted by Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. Robert C. Morgan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pacolet Mills Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 545, Pacolet Mills, 29373; or Morningside Baptist Church, 897 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, 29302.
