a. Note:   NANNIE MAE F. BURGESS McADENVILLE � Nannie Mae F. Burgess passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
 Nan was a native of Cocke County, Tenn., and is the daughter of the late William and Kate Fowler.
 During the 1940�s, Nan and her family left Newport, Tenn. and moved to McAdenville where she became employed by Pharr Yarns. She continued to work there for 52 years, before she retired. Nan was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Dewey Burgess; five sisters, Elizabeth Pate, Beulah Allan, Addie Fowler, Minnie Whittington, and Sarah Shelton; one brother, J.W. Fowler. Nan was a woman who loved and provided for all of her family. She will truly be missed by all her family and everyone who knew her.
 A memorial service to celebrate the life of Nan will be held Sunday, August 8, 2004 at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home of Gastonia with the Rev. Bobby Gilley and Rev. Joey Williams officiating.
 The family will receive friends from 7-9 Saturday Evening at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.
 Burial will be private.
 Nan is survived by her son Jack Burgess and his wife Caroline of Gastonia, NC; five daughters, Addie Burgess, of the home, Angela McIntosh and her husband Richard of Gastonia, NC, Katie Waynick and her husband Thurman of Jacksonville, Fla., Violet Foxx and her husband Bill of Clover, SC, and Rose Crisp and her husband Claude of Lincolnton, NC; one sister, Betty Alexander of Gastonia; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews
 Arrangements are in the care of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.
