a. Note:   ptember 14, 1999 at Memorial Mission Hospital after a period of declining health. A native of Old Fort, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1971 and was employed in the Human Resources Dept. of Thoms Rehabilitation Center for 15 years. She was a 1949 graduate of Old Fort High School where she was the Valedictorian of her class. For 41 years she was one of Jehovah�s Witnesses, having belonged to the Asheville West Congregation for the past 6 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles Cleveland and Eva Isabel Silvers Chrisawn and was the wife of the late James Grady Lavender who died April 21, 1993.
 Surviving are her sons, Wayne Lavender of Asheville, Dale Lavender of Cayman Islands and Vann Lavender and his wife Sandra of Marion; daughter Gwynne Lavender of Asheville; brother Clarence Edward Chrisawn and wife Sue of Union, SC; 3 grandchildren, Justin, Jessica and Jacob and several nieces and nephews including her special niece Marilyn Medford of Old Fort.
 Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Moffitt Hill Community Cemetery in Old Fort with Georges Self officiating. Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ander-Rice Funeral Home with Vann Lavender officiating. The family will receive friends 7 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home
