Burgess, 77, of Pacoelt, died early yesterday at his home following a lingering illness. He is survived by his wife, the following children: W. A. Burgess of Pacolet, J. N. Burgess of New York, N. Y., T. G. Burgess of Atlanta, GA, C. M. Burgess of Laurens, and Mrs. C. D. Burgess, Mrs. O. W. Sawyer, J. D Burgess. T. D. Burgess and H. K. Burgess, all of Spartanburg; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Robertson of Pacolet, Mrs. Jim Blakely of Union and Mrs. Grover Richards of Whitney; and one brother, T. G. Burgess of Union. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 5 o'clock (EDT) at the Pacolet Station Baptist church. Burial will follow in the Gilead church cemetery at Jonesville. Grandson and nephews will serve as pallbearers/ The body will be at the home of W. A. Burgess at Pacolet Mills after 10 o'clock (EDT) this morning. The J. F. Floyd mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.
