  LOCKHART - Willie Norris Burgess, 75, husband of Eva Jane Cabaniss Burgess, of 160 Woodside Dr., Lockhart, died Dec. 20, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a long illness. Mr. Burgess was born in Union on July 22, 1927, a son of the late Frank Humphries Burgess and Josephine Fowler Burgess. He was retired from the textile industry and was a veteran of World War II, having served with U.S. Navy Sea Bees. He attended Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church.
  Surviving in addition to his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sharon Burgess of Union; one sister, Lena Board of Union; two grandsons, Richard Burgess and James Norris Burgess both of Union. Funeral services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Conyers and Rev. Russell Miles.
  Burial will be in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chester County. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. The body remained at the funeral home where the family received friends Sunday night from 7-9 and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. today to await the hour of service.
  Memorials may be made to Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church, Lockhart, S.C. 29364. The family is at the home, 160 Woodside Dr., Lockhart, S.C. 29364. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
