Continued: The Spartanburg Herald, Spartanburg, S. C., January 7, 1962 Thomas (Bud) Burgess Union - Thomas Gadberry (Bud) Burgess, 82, of 305 Calhoun Street, died Saturday at the Wallace Thomson Hospital after a long illness. A native of Union County, Mr. Burgess was the son of the late Thomas and Frances Lipsey Burgess. He was a member of the Upper Fair Forest Baptist Church. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. W. O. Johns of Union and Mrs Bryant Franklin of Hickory, N. C.; two sons, Russell Burgess of Jonesville Route 1 and Lewis Burgess of Pacolet; two sisters, Mrs. Dickie Blakely of Union Route 5, and Mrs. Alice Robinson of Pacolet; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted today at 3 p. m. at the Upper Fair Forest Baptist Church by the Revs. Frank Inman, Davis Clyburn and Thomas M Godbold. Burial will be in the New Hope Methodist Church cemetery. Pallbearers are: Horace Foster, B. J. Kelly Jr., W. M. Plexico Sr., Harold Gossett, Maxie Murphy and Hamblin Garner. Members of the Mens Bible Class and others will form the honorary escort. The body is at the S. R. Holcombe Funeral Home and will be taken to the church at 2 p. m.
