Continued: There were 2 Joseph Burgesses in the 1850 census who were very close in age. One is in the household of James Burgess (1807) and is most likely his son. The other is in the household of John Gibson, Jr, family/household # 1306. Silas Burgess had a male in his household of this approximate age in the 1840 census and in the 1850, is family/household # 1255. Silas's wife Maria, was a Fowler before her marriage. There are several Fowler families on the same page with John Gibson, Jr. In the 1860 census "D Cine" and "Addliline", presumably Burgess, appear as next door neighbors of Silas, who is recorded as SB Burgess. This may be Joseph and wife. I can find no further record of this couple under either name(s). A Joseph Burgess served with Comp B, 18th Regiment, SC Infantry. He was captured at Petersburg Jul 30 1864. He was tranferred to the prison camp at Elmira, NY Aug 12 1864 where he died on Feb 20 1865 of chronic diarrhea. It could be this Joseph Burgess.
