He may have been apprenticed or hired out and recorded in another household. He does not appear on his own in a census until 1840. Silas' place of birth is given as Georgia in the 1850 census, South Carolina in all following census records.
  Silas Burgess appears in the census records of Union Co SC from 1840-1880. His exact dates of birth and death are unknown.
 His descendants intermarried with descendants of James Burgess, Trinity Burgess, and possibly Lemuel Burgess.
 In the 1870 Union Co census, Silas and James Burgess appear side by side.
