Pete & Henry...just started our family tree this past week.
Matthias is our GGGG Grandfather and our GGG Grandfather is George Woodley b 12/28/83 d 12/23/51
Just this week I found out the following information about Matthias:
Matthias was one of the original 5 vestrymen of St. James Episcopal Church when it was founded in Muncy in 1819. He died July 16, 1825 at about age 70 (which would indicate he was born in 1755) His funeral was held at St. James Church, Muncy (Lycoming County, PA) on July 24, 1825 by Rev. Mr. William Eldred and he was buried in the German Churchyard (Old German Emanuel Lutheran) as St. James did not have a burial yard until later. His land records in the courthouse at Sunbury. PA refer to him as a "minister of the gospel". He owned several farms and two town lots in Hughsville. He had seven sons at his death. The eldest was GEORGE who had moved to New York State prior to his father's death (vicinity of Buffalo, NY). The other sons in order of age were David married to Mary; Richard; Anthony: bAbraham, married to Rhoda/b; Martin married to Ann B.(either Bodine or Blather who had 3 children at his death; George Woodley, Charles Bodine Woodley and Hollande Blaher Woodley.)
The 1850 census (page 675 Medina Co. Ohio Granger Township ) lists Melinda Woodley age 99 as living in the house of Jacob Woodley. It is assumed that Melinda was the mother of Jacob and his 6 brothers and the wife of Matthias (putting her birth about 1751)
