a. Note:   Anna Fern Silk trained horses. She rode trotting horses in races. (Harness races) Her father would take the horses to the country fairs and race them. She knew horses very well.
  Obituary Notice:
 Fern Anna Silk, 87, died Thursday, July 9, 1992, in her home after a long illness. She was born August 7, 1904, in Genesee co. and lived in Port Huron since 1947. She married Lewis Silk August 31, 1921, in Sanilac Co. He died 8-9-60. Mrs. Silk was a licensed practical nurse, having owned and operated a convalescent home. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, LeRoy and Lorraine and Dale and Evelyn Silk of Port Huron; daughters, Audrey Peterson of Port Huron and Ruth Austin of Flint, daughter and son-in-laws Betty and Valentine Nowicki of Elkhart, IN; 41 Grandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and several Neice and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her children, Russel, Joseph, Bob, Raymond and Frank Silk and Virginia Rich. Services are 1p.m. Monday in Jowett Funeral Home 1634 Lapeer Ave at 17th St. The Rev. Nathan F. White of New Life Christian Fellowship will officiate. Burial will be in Elk Township Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Silk's grandsons Visiting is 7 to 9pm today and 3 to 9 pm Sunday. Memorials maybe made to the Visiting Nurse Association.
