Note: My earliest interest in genealogy was sparked by the invitation Aaron Doud received to the FAREWELL BANQUET to GENL. U.S. GRANT PALACE HOTEL. OCT. 25, 1879 AARON DOUD sterling S.F.Cal. A. Andrews The mayor at that time was A.J. Bryant. There were 250 guests and 9 kinds of wine according to the contemporary newspaper account. This card was passed down to Dwight E. Teall from whom it was stolen in the 1970's in a burglery. 1854 City Directory for SF lists P. Doud and R. Doud as carriers for the S. F. Herald but not Aaron. There were two SF city directories in 1856 both list Aaron Doud and his company, Doud and Orway, furniture dealers at 25 or 28 Bush. Both R. and P. Doud are listed 1858 SF city directory lists Doud (Aaron) and Ordway (Robert J.) furniture and matteresses, 25 Bush and 53 Montgomery.
