  Almost nothing is known of Rolyah Doud (I wonder if it was supposed to be "Royal" and was badly spelled). Other than the two genealogies, his first name is never found the same way twice.
  He did go to California before 1855 (and could well have traveled with Aaron)
  1854 City Directory for SF lists P. Doud and R. Doud as carriers for the S. F. Herald but not Aaron.

  1856 City directory lists R. Doud paper carrier, dwelling corner of Union and Leavenworth.
  In December 1857 several ads appeared for a "Grand Complimentary Ball" to be given to T.M. Blair. Ten members of the "Committee of Arrangements" were listed including R. Doud.
  1858 SF city directory lists R. Doud carrier Bulletin, dwelling Lincoln
  July 8, 1858 the Daily Evening Bulletin described a fire which damaged a house lived in by W. H. Wood a druggist. "Mr. R. Doud, Mr. Tyler and Mr. Chittenden who also lived in the house occupied by Mr. Wood were burned out and lost each more or less in the way of clothing and furniture."
  1859 SF City Directory lists Rowland Doud, newspaper carrier dwl S s Natoma nr Second Also there are Miss Elizabeth Bryan and Charles H. Bryan City Letter Express.
