He married in Niles, Ohio in 1848 and just before the Civil War, he and his wife Juliette (Julia) lived in Sharpsburg where he worked nearby as a nailor. Even with 3 small children at home, he enlisted along with many other friends in the Sharpsburg - Etna area with Company B of the 63rd Regiment of the PA Volunteers. He was mustered in on 1 August 1861 as a musician and discharged out with the regiment 5 August 1864 as a fife major. According to his pension file, he enlisted on 5 April 1865 in Co. C of the 7th Regiment of the PA Reserve Infantry (the 36th Volunteers) after his discharge from the 63rd. He was discharged 5 April 1866. He died in Pittsburgh in April of 1888. His wife Julia and two of their four children are also interred in the plot, but do not have tombstones], (contributed by Diane Nichols) Parker, J.
