From: Jean Loudin <jloudin@@rtol.net> To: WVUPSHUR-L@@rootsweb.com Subject: [WVUPSHUR] Jacob Simon Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2003 11:21:29 -0500 Harvey Ware married the daughter of Jacob Simon and a Mary on 7 April, 1831 in Lewis Co. In 1837 the heirs of Jacob sold Jacob's land and this is recorded in Lewis Co. These land dealings might help determine this Jacob Simon family. I know he was listed as SIMONS, not Simmons. It has been some time since I read those deeds, but it runs in my mind that the land was in what is now Upshur Co. To all that are hunting this family. This is all I have on him. Since he is not a direct ancestor of mine, I did not dig farther. Jacob Simons wife's first name was Mary. He had a daughter Susannah who was born 1812/13 and she married William Ware 7 April 1831 in Lewis Co. Jacob was dead by 1837 as in that year Susannah sold her part of the heirship of her father's lands. The other children mentioned in this sale were: ELIAS, ASA, and ANTHONY. No other girls, other than the above Susannah. His widow is also named. If you want a copy of the deed, it is page 522 in Deed Book F in Lewis County. I did not get a copy. William Ware lived in the southern part of Lewis County and most of his children married into families in that area. I do not remember exactly where Jacob Simons land was, but the area near French Creek rattles around in my brain, that could be totally wrong.
