  Elias SIMONS is head of household. He has one male in the ages of 0-5; one male in the ages of 5-10; one male in the ages of 10-15; and one male in the ages of 30-40. He also has two female in the ages of 0-5; one female in the ages of 5-10 and one female in the ages of 30-40. No male or females slaves. No free black male or female slaves. Making a total of eight people living in his household in 1840. He has one male listed for Argiculture (he was a farmer). No pensioners. No white person who were deaf, dumb, blind or insane. No black male or females of the same category. No one graduated from a University or School for any reason listed. There was one white person of ages 20+ that were illiterate in his household.

  "Two of the 43 Upshur County men to die in the South were brothers, Jacob Simons born 1840, who died September 1864 in Charleston, NC and Closson Simons born 1842, who died July 1864, place of death not definitely known but believed to be Andersonville.
  Both were sons of Elias and Nancy Brady Simons, whose home was situated on the divide from Stone Coal and Slab Camp. At the time of their capture, Jacob was 23 years old and Closson, 21. They died of starvation and maltreatment, but the rest of the Simons family, three boys and four girls, lived to be more than fourscore years."
