  This indenture made this 7th day of February in the year AD one thousand eight hundred and thiry seven between Mary Simon, widow of Jacob Simons dec'd and Elias Simons and Nancy his wife and William Ware and Susannah his wife Asa Simons and Anthony Simons and Lydia his wife heirs and heirs at law of Jacob Simons deceased of Lewis County and the State of Virginia of the one part and Jacob Jack of the county and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Mary Simons Elias Simons and Nancy his wife and William Ware and Susannah his wife Asa Simons and Anthony Simons and Lydia his wife for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars paid to them before the signing, sealing and delievering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold and alined and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell aline and convey unto the said Jacob Jack his heirs and assigns a certain tract of land lying in the county of Lewis and State of Virginia situate on Swearing Run a branch of Slab Camp fork of French Creek and bounded as following: beginning at a chesnut oak, red oak and black gum on the top side of the ridge on the south east side of right hand fork of said run and running thence north 47* west ??? (194) poles to red oak chesnut oak and white oak and thence south 43* 83 3/4 poles to a stake thence south 47* east 122 poles to stake thence north 73* east 30 poles to white oak thence south 16* east 50 poles to poplar thence south 47* east 24 poles to beach and white oak thence north 43* east 84 3?4 poles to the beginning containing ninety five acres 30 poles of land more or less It being the same tract (or the greater part thereof) that was sold by Henry O Middleton agent ?? to Jacob Simons in his lifetime. To have and to hold the above described tract or parcel of land withthe tenennents hereditaments and all and singular the premises as herein before mentioned or intended to be bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with every of their rights members and appurtinances to and for the only proper use and behold of him the said Jacob Jack his heirs and assigns forever and the said Mary Simons Elias Simons and Nancy his wife and William Ware and Susannah his wife Asa Simons and Anthony Simons and Lydia his wife for themselves and their heirs as doth covenant to and with the said Jacob Jack his heirs and assigns that they the said Mary Simons Elias Simons and Nancy his wife and William Ware and Susannah his wife Asa Simons and Anthony Simons and Lydia his wife the above described tract or parcel of land with all and singular the premises and appurtanances befor ementioned free from the claim or claims of them the said Mary Simons Elias Simons and Nancy his wife and William Ware and Susannah his wife Asa Simons and Anthony Simons and Lydia his wife or either of them their or either of their heirs and from the claim or claims of every person or persons save and except the claim of Henry O Middleton agent and for the purchase money and it is prefectly understood that the said Jacob Jack takes the aforesaid land as respects freeing it of the incumbrance of the said purchase money at his own risk and responsibility but against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever will warrant and forever defend the same except only only the puchase money as above stated In witness whereof the aforesaid Mary Simons Elias Simons and Nancy his wife and William Ware and Susannah his wife Asa Simons and Anthony Simons and Lydia his wife have hereunto set their hand and seal this day and year first above written.

She has one male listed for Argiculture as living in her household in 1840. No pensioners. No white person who were deaf, dumb, blind or insane. No black male or females of the same category. No one graduated from a University or School for any reason listed. There was one white person of ages 20+ that was illiterate in her household.
