Notes
a. Note:   Our family extends much thanks for the following letter shared here:
Transcription of Letter provided by Ruth Reese, written by Margie Sutton, Daughter of Dot Palmer Sieu, youngest daughter of Euphema Moor and David Palmer.
"My times with Uncle Angus and his wife Aunt Lola were few and far between. This was because they lived on the other side of the world from us San Antonio!
Uncle Angus was an insurance agent. He and Aunto Lola had three children Arthur, Ima Grace and Elmer.
They lived just a few blocks from well known, beautiful Breckenridge Park and I can remember we would walk down there and go down steps into what was called "The Sunken Garden." Crowds would gather to listen to an old Mexican man playing a harp. That's the first harp I had ever seen or heard. What a beautiful music he played! We seldom took a trip as far away as San Antonio but I was alays thrilled to go to their house because they had an indoor bathroom. That's the first indoor bathroom I had ever seen and I spent most of my time washing my hands under that hot and cold running water. Uncle Angus told me I would surely wash all the skin off my hands! He was such a sweet, kind man. He never complained that I might be using too much water. They also lived about four blocks from Fort Sam Houston that was always full of soldiers. The soldeirs in their full uniforms would march down Pershing Avenue right in front of their house. We would sit on the front porch and watch them practicing marching earling morning and late afternoon. Ironicaly, when I grew up and becam engaged to my first husband, Toby Taber, my mother and I would ride a train from Beaumont to San Antonio and stay at Uncle Angus's house so I could see my future husband who was stationed at Fort Sam . Uncle Angus thought so much of Toby and told me he thought I had chosen such a "fine fellow" to be my husband. It was at their house that I said my goodbye to Toby before he left for over-seas duty. Uncle Angus was dark complexioned, very thin, bald and always neatly dressed."
