Notes
a. Note:   Catherine Elizabeth Wood was born in Atlanta Georgia in 28 sep 1829. In the 1850 Heard County GA Census, she is listed as being 20 years of age. The 1880 census states that her father was born in Virginia and her mother in North Carolina. In 1900, the Hill Country, Texas, Precinct 4 Census, states that Catherine and both her parents were born in Georgia and that of her 10 children, six were still alive.
Per Martha Hoopaugh: She and some of her sisters & their families were in Arkansas at least by end of Civil War. Both Lucius Clinton and Alonzo Pascal are born in Arkansas. All other children born in Texas except John Wood Griffin.
Catherine died a widow from Breast Cancer on March 15, 1910. She must have been living with JWW and Mary Matilda Ford during her illness because they are the only children who lived in Houston in 1910. On March 16, 1910, Catherine Elizabeth Wood's body was transported (likely by JWW) from Houston to Whitney Texas via the Houston & Texas Central Railroad. Contained within the family bible was a ticket to check a "corpse" for that date. Catherine was buried in Whitney Texas. Her death certificate listed her father's name as W.Wood with no other information about either parent.
