a. Note:   Military:
 Enlisted on August 1, 1962, in Trussville, Alabama, in the CSA & served as a private in Co. G, 18th Alabama Infantry CSA - Listed as present on 1862 muster rolls. The 18th was organized at Auburn in September 1861. He was on duty at Mobile then to Corinth, MS, for the battle of Shiloh, returning to Mobile in 1963. It was prominent in the battle of Chickauga on the 19th & 20th of September 1863. The 18th had a total of 527 men & the total loss of the battle was 297. They participated in battles in Dalton, GA, Resaca. He was on roll of prisoners of war in Nashville, TN. He was moved from there to Louisville, KY. From there he was sent to Alton Prison in Illinois. From there he was transferred into the US Navy. It is not known if he joined the Navy or not. On April 20, 1865 he was honorably discharged & did not desert the CSA.
