Notes
a. Note:   This story has been complete mainly for the benefit of my children and their
 Identification #: D3247
descendents , and anyone who reads it should view it in that light . Other branches of
the Dippelsman are equally significant in a comprehensive family history , but have
not been recorded in the same detail.
For example dates (of births ,marriages , deaths etc) often differ by several years or more
in difference records . I have tried to use those which seem most likely to be the
correct ones . Another problem has been with names . Given names shown in records
are often different from the names by which the persons were known . Both have been
shown where possible , but there is some confusion , particularly between generations .
For simplicity , the spelling "Dippelsman " has been used throughout this record .
Variations that have been found include DIPPOLDSMAN , DIPPELSMANN
DIPPLESMAN, DIPPLESMANN , DIPPLEMAN and TIPPLEMAN . The only
known record we have from the original Dippelsman in their own hand writing are
from around 1900 . In these documents both of them signed their name as
"Dippelsman , so that was obviously the way they thought at that time that it should
have been spelt. We also have a document signed by their son Henry in 1902 in
which he too spelt his surname this way .
However for every Dippelsman born in Australia , the most significant spelling will
always be the one which appears on their birth certificate , irrespective of the way in
which our ancestor Heinrich spelt his .
