Notes
a. Note:   To Cousin Ralph, [email protected]@aol.com
I just found this online. Note the name Charles Watson. Francis M. Danner is listed as a "farm hand" to one Charles Watson of this township in Henderson County in the 1860 Census. In 1870 he was married to Elizabeth (Steward Bickett?) and had a farm of his own in the same township. He also had a six-year-old son named William, whom I take to be my grandfather.
 From Cousin Pete, [email protected]@aol.com
John Rowley organized the first school district in the Bald Bluff Township. In May, 1856 there was a school meeting held, and his diary states the present inhabitants voted to lend $20.00 each as a loan to the district to be paid back out of the tax when levied for that purpose, the interest to be 10% of the loan. Those loaning money were: Charles Watson, Luther Watson, William Morris, Bland Dodson, J. B. Davidson, Jeremiah Bevins, John Laird, John Rowley, Milton Halsey, and William H. Davis. John Rowley 's diary also shows record of hauling one load of seats for the school house August 22, and on October 9 he bought a stove for the school house to be ready in one week. In 1856 Thomas and Levi Armstrong are mentioned. They are the sons of James Armstrong, cousins of Ann Armstrong Rowle

DANNER, FRANCIS MARION BICKETT, ELIZABETH S MERCER
June 3, 1862, Married by Rev. James Edward Rutledge
According to The William Bickett Family Bible, the Marriage was
performed in Aledo, Mercer Twp., Mercer Co., Illinois
  Cousin Ralph,
In the 1870 Illinois Census, Henderson, Illinois (post office Oquawka) I believe you will find the Danner family.
Francis M. Danner, age 31, Farmer born Virginia
Elizabeth, age 31, Keeping house, born Pennsylvania
 William 6
 Francis 3
 Dale 1
Notes: Lois Elizabeth Rutledge (my grandmother) was born in Oquawka. Francis is clearly Frank Allen Danner. Two Danner children are known to have died young. Mary was one; Dale is likely the other. Only the mother of Elizabeth is checked as having been foreign born, suggesting that both of P. M. were born in USA. (Granted census takers only write down what they're told.)
In the 1860 census for the same location is a Francis M. Danner, listed as a "farm hand" to Charles Watson. Age 20, born Virginia.
 Cousin Peter
  Census, 1880
 Pleasant Valley, Johnson, Iowa
Francis M. DANNER, Self, Married, Male, White, age 40, born Virginia, Farmer, both parents born Virginia.
Elizabeth DANNER, Wife, married, Female, White, age 41, born Pennsylvania, Keeping House, both parents born Ireland.
William M. DANNER, Son, Single, Male, White, age 17, born Illinois, Assisting on Farm, father born Virginia, mother born Pennsylvania.
Francis A. DANNER, Son, Single, Male, White, age 14, born Illinois, Assisting on Farm, father born Virginia, mother born Pennsylvania.
Samuel E. DANNER, Son, Single, Male, White, age 8, born Illinois, Assisting on Farm, father born Virginia, mother born Pennsylvania.
Mary E. DANNER, Daughter, Single, Female, White, age 5, born Illinois, father Virginia, mother Pennsylvania.
Luela M. DANNER, Daughter, Single, Female, White, age 3, born Illinois, father born Virginia, mother born Pennsylvania.
I now believe Francis Marion Danner came west from Pennsylvania to Henderson Co., Illinois, with an older brother.
Francis Marion Danner appears in the 1860 census Henderson Co., Illinois, Township 12N. 4W. He is a hired hand, not yet married.
Four pages later, in the same township, I found this:
Robinson T. Danner, age 29, born Virginia
Susan Danner, age 28, born Pennsylvania
Amanda Danner, age 7, born Illinois
Margaret Danner, age 6, born Illinois
Joseph W. Danner, age 3, born Illinois
Sylvester Danner, age 1, born Illinois
I believe Robertson and Robinson are the same person. Also that he and Francis Marion were brothers. What do you think?
  Cousin Peter
