Note: Letters typed by Robert Beckett to Francis Thomas Beckett Martin II and a letter enclosed of Walter Matthew Beckett, son of Matilda Beckett and brother to his wife Margaret Anna Beckett, daughter of Matilda Beckett and John Beckett. Francis Thomas Beckett Martin II, son of Francis Thomas Beckett Martin I, son of Thomas Beckett Martin, son of William Moore Martin (husband of Henrietta Beckett, daughter of Matthew Beckett who immigrated to America in 1823). Francis Thomas Beckett Martin II was born November 28, 1904 in Omaha, Nebraska, and died November 05, 1995 in Omaha, Nebraska. Copies of these letters From Charles Wellington Martin II, a brother of Francis , were given to Ralph J. Beckett in Ten Sleep, Wyoming, when Charles and his wife passed by while traveling through on a visit to their daughter Julia Martin Videon in Bozeman, Montana. Rosevale, Ballinderry, C o. Antrim, Ireland, 9th April, 1927 My Dear Cousin: I thank you sincerely for your most interesting and instructive letter and I assure you it has been a great pleasure to me to learn so much about our ancestors. My Brother-in-law is deeply interested. I enclose you his letter which speaks for itself. Will you please excuse me for not replying sooner but the fact is, I was trying to get all the information I could before I would write. I shall commence by telling you that my great grandfather was Thomas Beckett who lived at Newfield, where I was born and reared and where my Brother George lives at present. Full particulars on the Genealogical table enclosed, marked B. My wife's maiden name was Margaret Anna Beckett. She is my second cousin. Her great-grandfather was Matthew B ., brother of my great-grandfather, Thomas Beckett, particulars on table marked A. Rosevale, where I live at present, belonged to my grand father's brother, Robert B., who went to America in the year 1860. (Just the year I was born in.) I bought the place fourteen years ago when I retired from business. I was a ladies' dress buyer in the Bank Bldg., Belfast, for 25 years, and I suppose I might call myself a farmer now. With regard to the Martin family, I have been making so me inquiry to find out if any of the several families of the name in Ballinderry might be related to your grandfather; but as yet have not been able to discover any. There was a family of Martins who lived next farm to Newfield about a 100 years ago, but there is none of them alive now. Samuel Martin was the last survivor. The place is still called Martinstown. There only remains the old ruins of the Homestead. It was bought by my grandfather and is still owned by my brother George. I was greatly pleased to hear that the Becketts of America bear the same good name for Integrity, Honour and Self respect that they do in this Country. You very kindly offer to send me a copy of that part of your father's manuscript which tells of the experiance of the family when they came to America. I shall be delighted to have it at your convenience. With reference to having the family history traced back to England, I am afraid it would be useless with the present scanty information at our disposal. I shall conclude now with kind regards to yourself and family and all friends. I remain Yours very sincerely, Robert Beckett
