Note: Wilbur M. Beckett South Buffalo Wilbur M. "Bur" Beckett, 82, of Scenic Drive in south Buffalo died at 7: 45 A.M. Wednesday (May 2, 2001) at his home. Born April 14, 1919 in south Buffalo, he lived in that area all of his life. A veteran of WW II, he served with the Army Air Corps. He was a farmer all of his life, and also a foreman for 10 years with PennDOT in Kittanning. Mr. Beckett was a member of Slate Lick United Presbyterian Church, South Buffalo: board member and past president of Center Valley Mutual Insurance County, in Ford City, and past president of the Armstrong County, Mutual Fire Insurance Co. A former supervisor of South Buffalo, he also served on the township zoning board. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Isabel R. "Isie" Rayburn Beckett, he is survived by two sons, Jeffery A. Beckett of South Buffalo and Michael S. Beckett of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., a daughter Mrs George (Barbara L. Kepple of Buffalo Township; six grand children; two great grandchildren: a brother, Paul G. Beckett of Lady Lake, Fla.,: and a sister, Mrs Robert (Mildred) Maurer of Herndon Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, John G. and Anna Thompson Beckett, and two sisters, Nina Pearl Beckett, in infancy, and Betty L. Cockroft in 2001. Friends are being received from 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday in the Remond Funeral Home Inc., 524 High St., Freeport. Funeral services will be conducted 11 A. M. Monday in the Slate Lick Presbyterian Church by his pastor, the Rev. Mark Davis. Burial will be in the Slate Lick Cemetery, South Buffalo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Western Pennsylvania Hospice, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.
